For Ian Grant, taking photographs is not only a skill sharpened over the years, it’s in his heritage. Ian comes from a rich tradition of documentarians- his grandfather, a videographer with a vast basement vault of town history and his father, a professor of photography with a infinite collection of vintage cameras. Born during his father’s tenure at the University of Michigan, Ian grew up surrounded by cameras. When his family moved to Massachusetts during his childhood, Ian recognized a rural landscape full of rich photographic opportunities. While other kids his age were off playing sports, he was often found in the woods and corn fields with a drape over his head taking photographs with an old 30’s 4x5 view camera. He sharpened his composition skills and talents with lighting, developing a personal style defined by vibrant colors and sharp detail. He now lives and works in Los Angeles, not far from California's vast National Park system and makes weekly trips to the Sierras. His work has developed a strong following from collectors who seek out his photographs for their unique imagery and strong appreciating value.
