See my portfolio and my sales. I have never used a DSLR yet. Still there is a sufficient sign of a successful portfolio. But you cannot deny the rejection ratio that increases due to cameras like S3IS or similar ones. Infact a normal powershot camera from canon would give much more results just because the lens has optical zoom limitations. Finally, after a certain phase you have to have a DSLR whether you are into stock photography or not. It gives you more control over you shoot and obviously more options for exploring your creativity. I personally would never go around with just a DSLR. I will still carry my S3IS and normal powershot around. Sometimes under special conditions these cameras give better results than the DSLR. Imagine carrying a 300mm lens everywhere for normal shoots with you DSLR and having a satisfactory(not best) result from an S3IS. posted in Is DSLR camera a must?
