I'll add one more thought to this...
What DO we get besides the extra .20 on acceptance and a small bump in overall profit per photo? Considering that many photos on here sell for .36-$3.00 each, it seems like it really is a bad deal IF we are trying to branch out into other revenue streams. I have had a great experience here on DT, and have no intention of leaving. I may, however, look at terminating my exclusivity agreement once my 6 months is up, if only so I don't have to worry about a major conflict down the road as I try and expand my business model.
If I could create a waterfall calendar and publish it, or even better find someone else that thought my work was good enough, to me that's not stock photography. However, it seems like the only thing we can sell is single prints. If I find a local gift shop willing to sell my waterfall calendar, HOW exactly is that adversely affecting DT? It seems kind of silly to quash the options available to those of us who love photography and seeing our work used, but who are not full time photographers with studios and/or client lists.
Keep up the great work everyone!
