Having been diagnosed with glaucoma, I know that I am losing my sight. This has made a profound effect on me and why I take photographs. I want to leave behind a collection of photos for my children so that they may see the world and all it's beauty the way I have seen it. I want them to notice all the little things around them that are beautiful and make this world worth living and fighting for.
Color, texture, patterns, and light itself are things I think we take for granted when we have eyesight. These are possibly the things I will miss most when I have lost my eyesight. Take notice of all the miraculous things around you in your daily lives- remember that there are those around you who may never see it. Consider yourself blessed to be able to enjoy looking at a flower or even the crumbling pavement beneath your feet.
Not all of the photos I have on here will show this, but my children will have the full collection,...and that is most important to me. Hopefully others will begin to appreciate the miracles all around them, too!
