Jeff DeLaCruz is a native of Olympia, Washington. After graduating from high school he went attended Western Washington University where he majored in Journalism. He discovered, however, that his love of photography overshadowed his love of journalism and decided to change directions.
In September of 2001, he started school at Brooks Institute of Photography, where he became interested in photographing conceptual still life. During this time he also formed a partnership with Augusta Quirk and started DeLaQuirk Photography, which specialized in architectural photography. In his final year of school he was called to active duty in the US Army Reserves and served as a soldier in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
He returned from Iraq November 2004 to his hometown where he formulated a photography show of his work from Iraq entitled Soldier’s View. He also began assisting many photographers in the Seattle area. He returned to Brooks in February 2006, where he finished his degree in Advertising.
He now lives in Chicago and works as a photographer and digital technician. |
