Film and stage actress Lauren Bacall, known for her sultry looks and smokey voice, autographs copies of her autobiography, “Lauren Bacall by Myself,” at a Chicago bookstore on January 12, 1979. Bacall won two Tonys for “Applause” in 1970 and “Woman of the Year” in 1981, and an honorary Oscar in 2009. She was widowed by two acting greats, Humphrey Bogart and Jason Robards. She lived in the renowned Upper West side Manhattan residence, The Dakota. She died from a stroke at home on August 12, 2014 at 89.
