Sandy, the alternative formats are not new options for contributors to upload. This is going to be an option for designers to choose upon download and our system will make the conversion.
We do not accept those new formats as upload options due to the massive storage space they require compared to the ones we already use (compare an uncompressed tiff with a max quality jpeg and you'll see the difference).
Thus, don't bother trying to upload tiff, bmp, etc. It won't work. :) |

Although I'm not an experienced Stock Photo contributer yet. I see how your changes will increase the quality of the contributions by most users. Definitely a well thought out decision. By having better and better stock, you'll get more and more buyers. Well done DT. I look forward to seeing how DT grows and improves in the near future. |

Okay, I was totally delighted with this post at first hand, I have to admit.
But there has to be a catch somewhere. There always is ;-)
Looking at it in a sober way, I suspect:
- 5 to 10 % of DT clients will leave DT alltogether just because DT has gotten more expensive for them. Wouldn't you? Competition is stiff anyway.
- another 15 to 20 % of DT clients will be driven off to purchase "subscription sales", which isn't exactly a good thing for contributors either.
- which leaves another 70 to 80 % of (non subscription) buyers to pay more than they used to. But they will notice the difference rather sooner than later. What will they do?
It's my opinion that contributors will pick up 10 to 20% more earnings (certainly not the predicted double amount DT has issued somewhere in this thread). And besides that, I think it's just meant for DT to have more "subscription clients" which - once "attached" to DT - won't leave DT that soon.
Having said this, I still wouldn't want to be represented by another agency than DT. Their service, their website, their interest in contributors' rights remains the highest and the best in the business. They are doing one hell of a good job, believe me!
So I don't mean to criticize here, but let's not go nuts either ;-)

I hope I'm wrong about all of this by the way, let the double income arrive NOW ;-)
