"Opting out is still not going to stop the things you mentioned happening as anybody can download your images and get them printed themselves. The only way you can stop this is to not to sell your fine art on microstock sites." says Godfer

This is where you missed my point...for someone to do what they did as you stated above, would be in violation of the terms if they didn't pay the P-EL. This is a viable case to present in a court of law and it would be in our favor.

However, if a product is sold--they have the right to resell the very product they bought. Dreamstime here is basically implying this: if you buy a print from here, you cannot do anything with it except to use it or throw it away. That will not hold in a court of law, sorry.

My point is simply this: there is a significant difference between the two that one is prosecutable in a court of law and the other isn't.

That's all.

I don't understand why you guys are making such a big deal for a simple request: an "opt out" feature. I'm not saying you should opt out--that is your right, your own decision. I want to opt out some of my photos (not saying all of them--especially my 9/11 photo)--and I'm getting the feeling you're becoming all republican on me--imposing whatever you think is appropriate for me, whether I like it or not.

People will not need a P-EL in order to print a photo and hang it on their wall. The P-EL allows a merchant to redistribute images via physical items and make a profit. There is a huge difference between a consumer and a business.

We wouldn't have an issue adding an opt-out, but anything requires resources. To add 6,700,000 rows is a waste if the option will not be used. With over 99% of the content enrolled in the Alliances and Partnerships program, we know most members will join anyway. That 1% still matters but only if something changed. The fact that someone sells prints on other sites, dedicated to this business is to be honest not our concern as long as these products are sold according to our RF license.

this is really great!!

Some questions :) How about a pricing list? Could I buy a print with my earnings balance or would I need credits? Will we know that our images were sold as prints in the earnings section?

And what was the first print sold? :)

I think print sales are a great idea. Well done.

Could this service be extended in some way to offer Event print sales on line. Sports events, dinner dances, etc. Maybe even a new section dedicated to photographers covering this sort of work. Has a good marketing knock on effect of Dreamstime awarness.

I could be mistaken, but I think we would do better if someone buys multiple prints to sell. As I understand it we get our DL for every print, where as if they use the P-EL we only get it once and they can produce thousands of products whcih would be the more profitable way.

Let's just give our DT admin and marketing time to get this going before we become to critical, while at the same time giving polite suggestions. They're doing a great job, and if you don't want your fine art prints selling where you would only get a few dollars, then I imagine you also wouldn't like them selling for $0.20 and this site isn't for you.

Monitoring will be in place. If a buyer purchases several copies, the contributor will receive royalties for each of them(unlike for a regular RF printed by the buyer on his side). This makes the P-EL more attractive for such users (or else they pay much more).

And yes, the print will be visible on the Earnings details page.

I think a note should be made instructing a potential buyer to select a size to view pricing; I found myself looking all over for pricing before I discovered that it appeared once a selection was chosen.

I also think that given the variable # of credits required depending on what credit package was purchased is going to cause some hard feelings with buyers. Perhaps that section should state a dollar amount price, with a statement like(or equivalent credits) or something. Really, I'd say price it to the largest credit package and avoid the issue all together ... just be making a bit more off the smaller credit packages - profit is good :) I think with this system, the buyer will be thinking they are loosing the discount they earned by purchasing a large # of credits; and I sort of agree with them ... even though I do understand the reasoning. Other than that, I'd make it a cash price and take a card number - keeping it separate from the credit system altogether.

I agree Anke, would be nice to see what types of images are being used for this purpose, would give us an idea of what types of images to take/upload.

Yes, there were. The P-EL license is a very good match creatively for this type of sale. So, if you had a P-EL license, that kind of content will be in demand here too.

During the weekend I have ordered a canvas of one of my images. I found it a little difficult to find out how many credits to buy... Seems like I cannot buy just the credits for one canvas and this could prove a little annoying for "just prints" customers...

Other than this, I have been credited for the image purchase of Large size, rather than the maximum... Maybe the canvas resolution with respect to size did not require the maximum size, but I would like a clarification on this... It was also marked that the images was sold as a print, although not very visible and one could easily miss it...

All the process was very fast and clean. I believe once a customer gets used with the system, they will most definitely like it. I am waiting now for the package, and I'll report again on quality once the product will be in my possession.

Will there be some type of link/banner we can use to direct people to buy such posters/frames other than the regular ones used to direct people to dreamstime.

I would like to have on my website a direct link for somene to be able to purchase such posters.

I will also agree with some of the comments on the fact that perhaps portion of the sale of the frame should go to the photographer as well, not just the cost of the photograph.

Other than that, it is a great idea to break into this market. :)

Just create a direct portfolio link on your website with the subject "Order posters and canvases".

Bogdan, you received royalties for the large size because this is the native/actual size from which we print. We do not take upsized files for prints.

The resolution of the file that I have submitted to DT is 4752x3168px (15MP). This would correspond to "Maximum" size. The file in question was not upsized by myself or DT. Here is a link to file...

Your statement is not very clear to me... Are you saying that you only need the Large size for printing the particular print-size I have ordered?

No problem here, just for understanding...
