I don't think this makes any difference as far as sales etc. go but, in terms of message board interaction, it would be good to know what country someone is from. Fine keeping the name confidential, detailed address is too much information but instead of having a choice down to the town or "confidential information" why not just state the country for everyone?

Rui,

This doesn't appear to work for the "confidential info" folks (which makes sense if you think about it as it would have real name and more precise location). On a side note, I recently tried to find the portfolio of someone I know from another site - he gave me the username here but the photographer search doesn't find him and I'm guessing he maybe has the privacy option.

Correct. Also, users who have chosen for 'confidential info' also don't appear on the results from the above link.

Indeed, once a member opts for confidentiality, no details regarding name or location are to be revealed. Country included. Why some members choose not to reveal personal details should not actually be questioned.

Anyway, the confidentiality option has been like this from the very beginning and it will probably remain as such. Adding one exception would only complicate things not to mention it may make some people quite unhappy.

There are some contributors who believe that by this choice to remain on confidential, increases the number of sales. I tried to see if I this experience it increases the number of sales passing on confidential. Not at all! I think the number of sales has nothing to do with confidentiality.Opinions are divided!I personally chose to leave the confidential because I believe that the number of sales has nothing to do with confidential status.Sure that everyone has the right to choose this option for reasons more or less personal! Best regards,Lenuta:)
