BEFORE: new files started from Level 0, giving me 25%, but after 1 download they went to Level 1, 30%.
NOW: new files still start from 25%, but to go to 30% now I need 4 downloads!
How can you be happy about that?

NO, that's not true! Check this pic level after just one sale:

City of London: skyline of Thames bank at night

here is another example - for old file going from level 0 to level 2 after just one sale:

I've read and thinked.
Both images are exclusive, for us non-exclusive what I've written is true.
They've cutted our royalties, again.

I am NOT exclusive, although the images are. I don't know where did you get your info. It does not follow from any announcements, nor my experience. If you have any "recent" image (uploaded within two years) sold and not on level 2, I suggest you to contact support with such questions, because the new system works the same on all images (I mean level-wise). Have a nice day. :)

here is a non-exclusive image sold once and on level 2:

Not only did royalties get cut for non-exclusives but the search algorithm has changed. For the month of April, I had the same number of downloads that I had in November 2005 - back when I had 22 images online. If May does not improve, then I will have to re-think my strategy here.

Some of my files were included in the testing the last few weeks.
My stats have fallen dramatically in April - down 50% from March & 33% from April, 2011. I haven't uploaded anything new in the past 3 months. So... don't know if April of this year was generally bad or if new system is causing decrease in royalties/sales?? Hopefully, it will get better!!

For me April wasn't bad at all, it was actually my BME, even without accounting for one I-EL... In contrast, May 1st does not look like a good start of the month.

For those still a bit confused about the levels and what it actually means there is a nice chart here:

http://www.microstockgroup.com/dreamstime-com/new-dt-2012-pricing-structure/50/

Scroll about half way down and there is a chart posted by grafix04 that seems to cover things.

The short story is prices go up for everything except images with no sales over 2 years old.

The commission percent stays the same except for those old no-sales images which drop 20% down to 20% and for level 5 images that drop 10% down to 45%.

For all of the images in the middle the higher prices should mean more $ for contributors and DT. Hopefully this won't drastically effect sales numbers or the ratio of credit and sub sales.

(edited to change 25% to 20% as pointed out below - oops)

If those could not figure it out from the original announcement, they will fail understanding that chart for sure! LOL
meanwhile 25 -> 20% for 2 year-old level 0 is not 25% revenue cut, but 20% (one-fifth)... which I am ready to pay for higher chances of selling the unsold :)

ps: after all the high-rank sellers' complaints about the 10% revenue cut for L5 images, I find it strange that nobody jumped on the idea of asking DT to restore the old level 5 under the new name of "level 6" (>50 downloads) with correspondingly higher credit-prices and revenue %-age (of old level5).

That has my vote~like the idea of a level 6. Unhappy that level 5 images got a revenue cut.

well, as a matter of fact, the easiest way to look at the new shifted level system is to say that:

1) in terms of downloads needed to reach next level(s) the entire level system has been shifted by -1; so new L0 (2-year unsold or "dead" images) can be called L-1 (newly introduced), new L1 is just L0 and so on - in old level terms; note how L5 translates to old L4, and there is no L5 any more; note also that revenues followed the same shift by -1 level, so there is no L5 % for non-exclusives any more, but L-1 20% revenue has replaced it for L0 (=L-1).

2) in terms of credits/prices the system has been kept the same, so that L0 costs the same as old L0 and so on - hence, there has been no price raise for buyers! Except now there are many more images on L5.

I can't resist repeating that this is a very clever move for DT, and they should have paid someone a big bonus for coming up with the idea! Would be nice to know and praise the inventor... ;)

OK so May is off to a pretty darn good start. Hope it continues.

Looking at my statistics this new image levels comes as very interesting move. Past days I had boost in sales with significant boost in RPD. Last time similar tweak was done I had fall in sales.
I hope this new trend will continue.

In my opinion, selling the unsold is very hard. The new price structure will be good for beginners and bad for old photographers with many high level images.

I wonder why buyers don't write here and tell us their toughs.

Off-topic: all my non-subscription sells are with credits from 2010. What means this, anyone know?
