As of today, I am not aware of another big microstock agency who activly promotes a button for Pinterest.

As has been said in this thread, it wouldn't be a great idea anyway.

Achilles - are you able to get back to us on our questions please when you have a moment? Such as:

Do you know how long it will take Pinterest to enforce this new policy?

Will the pinit button be removed until it is enforced or will it remain in place on our images?

Although Pinterest say it is possible to ensure the original link can not be removed will they also stop people adding their own links as well to the images they pin or stop them embedding the image code?

Thank you!

Unfortunately, the process is not swift at all and that isn't caused by us. We hope to have a resolution until the end of the next week, as we've been just as anxious to solve this. If nothing is solved by then we will remove the Dreamstime content, at least until we see the result that we all expect.
I'm very disappointed that this has been postponed for so long.

Thanks Achilles. Only yesterday I had to use the form on the Pinterest site to ask them to remove several of my images that were pinned on there without permission or any links to Dreamstime.

@Cleaper, this is why we did our best to make this work. Because just removing the pin button wouldn't eliminate the problem you described above.

Thanks for the reply Achilles, I know its not an issue of DT and that you are doing your best to have Pinterest solve it.

I understand what you are trying to do Achilles. However, my point has always been that the pin button shouldn't have been put there until the issues had been resolved. If people from other sources choose to steal/borrow/copy my images without permission then unfortunatley there is not a lot I can do about it but I never expected the agency that I have my images with to actively promote a certain site that encourages (or doesn't necessarily discourage) such practices by adding a button for it next to my images.

Anyway I won't start off the whole issue again by arguing my points over again...let's see how it works out. Thanks!

Achilles, thanks very much for the update. Good to know this issue is still being worked out and that Dreamstime is taking steps to ensure the safety of our images :)

Good news: starting today all images pinned from Dreamstime will include attribution and will not lose it when re-pinned. We're also working with Pinterest to populate/fix all images pinned in the past, so they will include attribution too.

This was a long wait and frustrating for many people, thanks to everyone for their patience. @Cleaper, you are correct, that would've been the safest approach. But then, there were efforts to do this and we had to see the impact and potential going any further with back-end implementation. Thanks again for your support.

ok, let's move to the next level: what I have to do to use pinterest for promoting my portfolio? I don't have yet an account there. Someone here to teach me? Thanks.

Very good news Achilles! It will be very interesting to see how Pinterest works as a promotion tool. I am yet to be convinced how good social media actually is in terms of bringing real hard core sales but I guess it is the way of the future in so many businesses. I work in PR and advertising and we too are dubious about the value of social media as a trade sales tool (although as a consumer promotion tool we see the value) so many clients now want to use this instead of more traditional means. It is the cheapest form afterall.

Here's to the future and good luck to everybody with their sales! Well done Achilles and the Dreamstime team with their perseverance on this, and also well done to all those people that kept up the well argued points on this thread! Respect to Cathyclapper for bringing the important issues up in the first place I think.

You must ask for an invite on their site. It should take from 1 day to... 1 month. Then, all you have to do is to create some attractive boards (you gotta make a research first and see what people like to share). Use the Pin button from the images you need to put on Pinterest, choose the proper category and that should be it. The author's name and the link to the image will be automatically added under the image.

I made some tests and this link remains there no matter how and how many users are sharing the image. Good luck!

Ooo i didn't know you had to ask for an invite. I just joined by filling in their join form and validating my email - took all of 3 minutes. I was able to pin straight away - I wanted to test how it all works. So far I have just managed to get confused!

I have pinned two of my Dreamstime images though. It will be interesting to see if they get any views.

I have noticed that bloggers do still have the option of changing the embedding code. Does this mean they can take away the link? Not that I am trying to find fault!!?? Honest!! :)

Ah, maybe this is how you do it now :) When I made my account I waited for an invitation.

So I can pin my images from DT to my Pinterest boards now? That's interesting. Has anyone else done this?
