Level-based pricing structure and similar images

An advice for DT: I think this message is no longer accurate because of the new non-level-based pricing structure for subscription sales:
"You already have several very similar images in your portfolio or approved within this batch. If approved, these files will compete against each other for downloads thus diluting your sales. Keep in mind we have a level-based pricing and royalty structure so having very similar content online will leave you with less revenue."

Why not? Because, at the very first time - months or years - is good for me to have two similar photos (big chances to be found). After that, I can remove the one with less downloads.
This idea came to me after this "image not selected" message: "These images show a very high degree of similarity with other images in your portfolio. We have kept the best versions online and removed the ones without any downloads."

I think spam = unsolicited.
I understand that similar images are bad for buyers, too many to see and chose. Ok for me, thanks. :)

Having similar images, but all different in composition or in point of view (even just a little) is a way to give more choice to the customer, so a chance for Dreamstime that the customer does not go to see elsewhere for alternative images.
I have worked as Art/Creative Director for more than 20 years and I know very well that a little difference in the point of view of an image or in the composition can make a huge difference when you are projecting a document to publish.

I think it is correct to leave more choice to buyers. In the case in which one of the more similar images has not been sold you can choose whether to remove it.
