I am only able to change a few of my image titles after acceptance, but most are locked from editing. Is this normal?

If you need an image title to be changed please send the ID to support along with all necessary info and we will change it for you.
Also, we advise that you choose your titles and descriptions carefully when submitting the images to avoid such issues.

I must admit it is a little frustrating to not be able to change titles. Sending emails to support to do that is just time consuming and just as frustrating. It was mentioned by Tangie and I quote

We are aware you are worried but this is not a policy we intend to implement for the time being.

We are running some tests and hope for some technical improvements. Old images are affected by this change so you can edit the title of very recently approved files. Until we change this, you can send all he modifications to support. Include the image ID numbers and the new title and we will make the changes for you.

Thank you for understanding and this topic is closed until we have an update. We're always happy to assist you by email should you have questions or require title changes by email.

Images that have been online for more than about 15 days have "greyed" out titles. Is this going to be permanent?

I for one like going back to change or add a word to a title I might feel is necessary and have on occasion seen results.

This is an excellent advise. Thanks for it.

But, unfortunately, one is able to act 'carefully' only knowing perfectky well how things go. Which is not a case. Since algorithm of 'relevancy' is a secret.

So, we can't choose titles perfectly at the beginning and sometimes have to adopt them lately. Which is now impossible with EDIT options. So, we have to bombard support with e-mails. Which sometimes are answered and other sometimes aren't.

That's so...

Keep in mind that your images are indexed and searchable with a title not only from here but from search engines like google as well. Changing your title will knock you image from it's placement in no time and it will take months to reach up again, if it even reaches up again. That's why it's important to have a good title from day one.

Surely, the placement will change. This is just a goal to reach when changing titles.

Nobody will edit titles if image sells good. But if it has no sales for months it makes sense to change something (including titles) in hope that it will change placement in search engine for better.

Once I changed 'universe' for 'space' in titles of 10 (or so) images that had level 0. In some weeks almost all of them started to sell. One of them has reached level 5.

But I could not do that 'from day one' since on 'day one' I didn't know how placement depends upon title. And I don't still (like everybody here except for admins). And nobody will know this as it's a secret.

So, in many cases one just has to change title several times trying to find an optimum and being with 'closed eyes'.

I suppose there will be a good deal of additional work for admins if contributors will not be allowed to do this themselves.

My concern is with 100 000 and more photographers part of DT with lets say 70% active, could be more or less, how is DT going to handle the influx if there is even 10% of the photographers that would like 5 titles changed per week. Soon there will then be limits as to how many titles can be changed in a month and more restrictions to enable the admin staff to get to everything.

Am I correct?

We have been able to handle all title change requests so far. Indeed, there have not been immensely many but we are ready to make any and as many changes as you wish in order to make this title editing block as "comfortable" as possible. We do not expect the situation to get that dramatic and as mentioned, this is only temporary.

Plus, you will be able to edit the titles in the very near future as we are currently working on that.
