Hey everyone,

my wife and I have been wanting to get into selling our photos online, but we haven't been very successful at getting things off the ground yet and we would love to get a few tips or pointed in the right direction.

As it is, I miss posted on another thread before I realized my mistake, and I apologize for that. I know about adding a title, keywords to a submission, but a little confused about getting my foot in the door here. I uploaded a photo, but wasn't able to fill in the title and keywords.

Any help would be deeply appreciated.

Thanks, Perry

You will find your uploaded files in the "unfinished folder" under management. That is where you will beable to put in your title, description, and keywords.

I wish you and you wife the best of luck. Just keep uploading and don't get to upset if you get some rejections, we all get them. Just keep uploading and learn all you can from the rejection reasons. Good luck on your first uploads. Looking forward to seeing your images. :)

Thanks for your kind words, I have sent images to other sites and had them accepted, but no sales. Not sure if they weren't very appealing, too common, or what, but I am looking forward to honing my skills, and learning something.

Again, thanks and thanks for your speedy reply.

I just edited that image and submitted it, can I post others in the mean time, or am I locked in now? I have no idea how to post Ftp for multiple images.

There is a ton of info in this forum for beginners. If you have the time to read through old posts, scan the blogs, and look at the best sellers here you will get a better idea of what you should be doing. Play the Stock Rank Game (icon with wings in your profile). Google is your friend, too. Search under stock photography and the resources are endless. Times have changed, if you want to be successful in stock you need to do your homework. So many newcomers say Hi then disappear so it has nothing to do with enthusiasm or amount of images uploaded. Today it is a game of quality over quantity. Look around. Can you produce better photos then the ones that can be viewed under the Popular Images tab? There are lots of good books on photography and stock available. Check out the ones in the Resources tab above, sub-tab Utilities. Good luck and welcome.

Thanks for the info, Red. With your total sales score being at 1316, you know what you're talking about.

I will make it a point to read through the blogs as you've suggested.

Thanks for the warm welcome too.

Hello Perry, welcome to Dreamstime. Looks like you have a lot of fun both going out with your cameras and enjoying the same pastime. It seems daunting at first with all the different new things to learn here, but slowly things will get easier. Good luck with your new venture here.

When you start to do stock you need to get into the 'stock' mentally which means start to look at adverts, magazines, flyers etc to see what sort of images are used. If you can't think of a use for your image then probably the buyers can't either. I've found that the harder an image is to find good keywords for the less it is likely to sell. Pay as much attention to backgrounds as you do the main subject of the image and do clear uncluttered images. Good luck to you both and with 2 of you, you can use each other as models.

Sorry I haven't responded to other replies and been more active here. My wife and I both had pneumonia at the same time, and it put her in the hospital for over a week with it, and things are just starting to get back to normal again. I would like to get back into this forum and see what I can learn here, never took my eye off the goal, just a set back. Thanks everyone for the well wishes in my and my wife's endeavors.

Sorry to hear about your illnesses. I hope you are both feeling better.
You have great advice so far. I might add, just take your time and don't feel rushed
to upload. It is better to have fewer rejections.
Good luck and welcome.
