I'm new to Dreamstime and have 11 of my images accepted for sale. As i search through similar images i notice some have a much greater view ratio than mine. What can I do to increase my visibility? It would be great to hear from photographers that have been on the site for a while and have sold images. thank you

Welcome Tempestz and wish you Good Luck!
I'm also new here, and so I don't have any advices for you...
But it's very interesting what you are asking here, I was wondering too.
So, let's see what the olders around here have to say!!

Hi guys, the first step is to increase your portfolio. Having more files online, and more concepts, increases your chances of being noticed.

Also, be careful what you upload, you should submit only the best of your files, those that you really think they have great chances of getting accepted, cause the approval ratio counts in search placements.

Don't forget to read the forum often, cause you'll find great information here.

Good luck!

Thank you, too!
Unfortunately some things you have to learn them through trial and error!!
I designed two different alphabets and I uploaded each letter in a different image!! Desastre!!! They are not accepted of course so I changed my files to series... that's ok but I'll still have about 50 rejections only for that! LOL!!

Tempestz your keywords are relevant to increase your visibility.

You may also twitter your image, it will index your images in the large search engines like google, its almost imediate, you will see that an image with zero views will have some 10 or more views.

Add your portfolio link to your email signature and start promoting it everywhere.

Last but not least you can stabilish a presence in the social media.

that seems like good advice afagundes. i was always unsure if i was allowed to publish my pics on social media because exclusivity issues.

You got the meaning of exclusivity wrong! Read terms and FAQ again please.
Good images will get sold. Social media is better for referring people. Little chances of someone buying from there I guess.

Ooh, Marielart, I'm glad that you said that, because I'm working on an alphabet and didn't know the letters had to be all in a series!

Thanks Agagundes, Wouldn't twitter depend on your followers? if you don't have many then your visibility would be lower.

Tempestz, we are talking about two different strategies here.

I use twitter for the spider robots of the search engines to index to my images, you just twitt them and you will see that views will appear even if you dont have followers.

Afterwards you will see your images are going to be found if you type your login name and some description in google for example and I think this attract buyers, for sure.

If you follow some interesting people in twitter, some will follow you back BTW.

The other strategy is post links to your images, not the images themselves, in the social media.

The posts should be interesting and people interested in the subject might come here to by your images.

This is a long range strategy.

I am posting images that were not accepted here, I tell a story about them and link to my portfolio and to a collection related to that image.

Here is an example:
https://plus.google.com/u/0/106991794507632128274/posts/JPKBXZhhxjY

The posts have attracted now almost 14.000 followers in Google+

Does this express itself as sales? I honestly dont know, I have no tools to know where the sales are coming from.

But I had one result for sure.

I have a community of people from all over the world helping me improve my photography, sharing ideas, etc., that means, I am having fun.

And, yes, revenue is 25% larger this year as compared to last year´s.

May I add that all your images are new yet. The views will increase over time. When you are comparing views and sales, you have to consider the time the other images are on database. I use the ID number to have an idea on how much time they have been here.

Another question, I noticed when I keyword my images it mixes them up in no particular order. For example, if i wanted to described one of my images with exchanging wedding rings, bride, groom, it could place it in an order like groom rings wedding exchanging bride.

Is there away around this so that the keywords are as written?

I have tried, commas, periods and semi-colons.

thank you for any help or comments

keywords show in alphabetical order, you dont need to worry about the order, the search engine doesnt consider it

This question goes out the people that have been contributing for awhile. Does the review time get any shorter for the photographers that have many images on line and many sales? My current wait time is about 150 hrs. thanks

I do find the anticipation pretty exciting as my new pictures are approved. I find this is a great opportunity to learn within my own portfolio as to which photos should be submitted. I can't wait for the 1st sale. I did have my 1st download from another stock photo site of an image that was not accepted here on Dreamstime, go figure..

No - we are all in the same boat. It ebbs and flows a bit depending on how many photos people are submitting, or across holidays... I've got files pending from April 23rd still showing 25 hrs remaining.
