Hi friends!

We're on a budget and are leaning towards to D7100 to buy next month and keep D90 as the backup unit.

Let's hear what ya'll think about this unit. Have read mixed reviews on the net and we're little confused about making a final decision.

I still use my D90 but have been looking into four third systems simply because they are lighter. However as long as your gear is kept in good lenses, and you have excellent lenses, then the D90 should still be good. : )

Both give great IQ, the extra MP of the 7100 is just a bonus.

I too have been looking at a 4/3 system, but the lack of a viewfinder on most of them have kept me away. If any of the manufacturers came up with a rangefinder with a real viewfinder and good IQ I would buy in an instant.

The idea of holding a camera away from my body looking at a a screen does not thrill me.

Thank you, Angela and Dewers for your replies. :) Initially we were planning to go for a D600 the price is little out of our reach and then changing lenses would cost us a fortune so we decided to go with D7100 Let's see how the price goes for D7100 next month and accordingly we'll decide. :)

Instead of giving you another opinion, I want to ask why you want to upgrade?

First of all both I and my wife go out for shooting together and since we’ve different styles it has become a pain for us to share one camera. Secondly changing lenses became another problem. So we thought of having a new one and started searching and found D7100. It’s becoming a popular model in Hong Kong. Considering the affordable price, attractive features such as 24MP, sharpness, colors etc. made us believe it may be the one for us. :)

Ok I understand...you really need another camera. I think D7100 is the best choice at the moment. D600 is a much better choice but it will not be able to use your Tamron, so it's doesn't sound logic to me, either.

Now, get ready for the second important question "who will grab D7100?" :)) this is a question you and your wife will have to answer :)

Thank you, Parkinson, for your immediate input!! Really appreciate it. :) Oh she has made sure that it's for her. ;) Never knew that was the intention behind when she treated me with her special (my favorite) homemade pizza and I had to oblige :) ;)

Oh but a pizza is worth for an extra 12mp sensor. It sounds fair enough :)) luckily my girlfriend loves to be the model, so 1 camera is enough for us :) I'm waiting for the new D300 (D400 maybe) then I will check it if it's worth for the price :) have fun and good luck

Well...I'm a pizaa freak and what my better half makes is really delicious, filled with lot of cheese and extra toppings that's for sure a lot better than an extra 12mp sensor...lol. Nice to hear about your girlfriend, I bet she's the model in your portfolio and she's beautiful!! Yes, I've heard about this D400 coming...but it seems that Nikon wants us to buy D7100 first so that they can release it for you? ;) Well..you both have a beautiful weekend or whatever left of it. ;)
