Database exposure - calculation parameters change

Tangie
Admin
The database exposure was so far calculated as the percentage resulting from comparing the total number of your online files with the total number of files in the database. See your Stats page

We have recently changed the calculation parameters to give you a more relevant picture of your activity when compared with the activity of other contributors. Hence, this database exposure now shows which percentage of the total monthly images we approve is yours. The database exposure is the percentage resulting from comparing your approved uploads against the approved uploads of all other contributor in the same month.

We recommend you close the rest of the stats parameters to see more clearly how this works on the stats page.

Your feedback is welcome and we hope this change is useful in checking upload trends and statistics.

The percentage resulting from comparing my approved uploads against the total number of my approved uploads in a month.? or The percentage resulting from comparing my approved uploads against the total number of approved uploads in a month for all contributos in Dreamstime.?

The correct answer is: The percentage resulting from comparing your approved uploads against the total number of approved uploads in a month from all contributors in Dreamstime. So it shows your activity vs. the activity of other contributors in terms of approved uploads in one month.

Mine is still showing 0% in all months. I upload about 30 a month. I thought I was an average uploader. Does it means I am far behind from most uploaders or the results are just not showing?
Or maybe some uploaders upload so much that average uploaders still have 0% on Database exposure.
Edit: on the graph I can see I upload around 0.16 a month, maybe thats so little that it doesnt show on the figures chart. I have to work more.......

Turn the other stats off by simply clicking on them. You should then be able to see the database exposure line.

This isn't a ranking factor that changed, it's only a parameter that shows how visible/invisible your submissions are compared to others. For better accuracy make sure you close all other graphs.

In the chart it shows when all others are disabled. Working good.

It is not showing on the table with numbers, probably due to rounding factors (?)
All months are shown 0,00% instead of 0,16%, 0,17% and so on.

Statistically, comparing one contributor with thousands of others will almost always give us a negligible result. If 30 uploads show 0,15 ; 1000 uploads will be 4,5 and it still don't have enough resolution to watch our stock career.

I asked one of my professors about the situation (he has a Phd. in statistics), he thinks that we should have the "growth rates" compared. Is my port grows faster then DT's database. This can create a race and put people in fire.

Please take this advice seriously. It doesn't come from me, it comes from a Phd.

I have a value of 0.23. So this would mean that I have uploaded 0.23 percent of total photos that have been uploaded by all users?

Yes, this is correct - you have 0.23% of the total approved images that were uploaded by all contributors in the same month.

The previous calculation became obsolete as the database grew. The change seems rather moot as there are other ways to measure progress.

I would have opted for removing the feature and giving your programmers one less item to support. :-)
