I stopped at a local Goodwill Store today after i had finished working just to browse around for books and also to see if i could find anything unique and low priced to use for a photo shoot. Well i stumbled on this old, worn softball that for some reason really caught my eye. It is discolored somewhat from age and has bruises and scuffs where it has seen a lot of use, but not too much use. And the interesting part is that it looks to have been hit with 2 different bats of 2 different colors, faded red and faded blue. Either that or the ball was continuously hit against a red and blue backdrop or something, giving it this awesome kind of look. Looks like something out of a movie or something, so i hope i can do it justice and bring the magic of this ball along with it's marvelous colors into a conceptual photograph that stands head and shoulders above all other "OLD softballs" of which i count four pages worth... i'm gonna display it on my shelf for a couple of weeks while i toss around different ideas in my head. I think i already have it but i don't want to rush perfection.

Anyway maybe YOUR next unique photo is waiting for you at your local Goodwill Store !!!!!!! AND LIKE THE TITLE SAYS I PAID ONLY FIFTY CENTS FOR THIS BALL !!!

Thrift stores are awesome. Some dramatic light on that softball and then some cool post-processing with lots of contrast and clarity would be cool! ;)

I don't have photo related examples for Goodwill... well unless I make my daughter pose in her shirts, but here are some cool examples of thrift store shopping.

My wife is the queen of bargain shopping and coupons. Her bargain shopping is wearing off on our daughters too. Last month our 12 yo daughter got some money for her birthday and asked if my wife would take her to Goodwill to look for some clothes. Four name brand, like new shirts for $13!

This week one of my friends plays an airplane game, you can imagine how easy that is with a mouse and keyboard... think photo retouching at a faster pace. His girlfriend shops at GW also, she picked him up a flight controller joystick (they sell for $30 - $85 depending on the model), she paid $4!

TRUE, that fifty cents came from the Porsche sale !Some of that Porsche money went to the new light meter too :) and some went to the purchase of the 5D classic camera... best of all i am no longer paying 40 bucks a month for additional insurance on a turbocharged car that required 91 octane fuel :) So now if my wife is gone in the new car i just get out my bicycle because i need the exercise anyway :)

Here in the UK, we have what are called "car boot sales", or as they would say in the US, car trunk sales. They are always excellent sources for all sorts of incredible subjects, for a "still life" photograph. This image of mine called "Time", cost me, in British pounds, £1 for the skull, £2 for the candles, and £2 for the pocket watch. I think in time (lol) that it will pay for itself!   Time!

Thanks Mudplucker, I must find out who the skull was though, I think it may have been an older contributor, who just got another sub sale for a Tiff, from the expression!
