How long does this process take to notify a Keymentor whether suggestions have been successful or not. I submitted loads of keywords for quite a few pics well over two weeks ago and have not heard anything to date?

Surely, as someone else has suggested, there should be a "pending" section for this Keymentor sector, where one's submission per image is given a tracking number and one can follow the progress to see when it is due for administration to vet it.

2 cents per image is a robbery. so, if you want to earn a lousy dollar, you need to write at least 10 words for every of 50 images, which will take you about 2-3 hours (to find photos, check is there a word you plan to write etc.)! They work for more money in a chinese coal mine!

After the recent posts on the boards from fellow photographers we came up with a new position, the KeyMentor.

KeyMentor can be any registered user that has strong knowledge of English language. All you have to do is to be logged in your account and click the link underneath the image for suggesting new keywords.

You have to add at least 10 new terms in order for the submission to be accepted and you can do it only once per image. You cannot suggest keywords to your own images.

The suggestion enters a waiting list and if accepted, will reward your account with a symbolic two cents per image. If the suggestion is not accepted, no notification is sent. Spam will not be tolerated.

Thanks to CaroleGomez, Sophieso and the other girls and boys that suggested this, as well as thanks to Raycan for coming up with the name. We hope you will find it useful.

Just my two cents. :)

Hello - I am trying this and this is really great .. Will wait for my performance results. In a couple of images I found some bad key words too, basically misspelt, but when i report them by simply copy pasting them, this message appears "Some words you reported as bad were not found in the keywords list therefore they were deleted.Thank you for reporting bad keywords." What could be the reason? Some glitch or I am doing it in a wrong way

There is no glitch. If you report bad keywords and you get the message "some bad keywords you reported as bad were not found in the keywords" then there are two possibilities:

1. Someone already reported those words as bad and the report was approved therefore the words deleted.

2. The photographer himself edited the image prior to bad keywords report approval and the words were, as in the previous case, deleted.

Hi to everyone.

When somebody has reported some bad keywords in one of my pictures and that image got something like blocked in the editing mode than how can I change my keywords to improve them? It's written I can do it by keyword mentoring system. But where is it? Can I do it by suggesting some new keywords (like key mentoring system to be rewarded(...)) on the picture site. And by writing this I'm not expecting to be rewarded I just want to change some of my keywords and to add some better ones.

Thank you for reply.

Great idea! I also noticed that this activity improves my knowledge of English vocabulary. The least boring way to learning new words!

Good job!

May I suggest you go work then in a Chinese coal mine? ;-)

The reward is just symbolic, and nobody is forced to do it.

I do it occasionally for non-English speakers (Chinese for instance, maybe working in a coal mine) that have great shots but defective keywords. Consider it a token of encouragement to the photog and a nice gesture.

I am fairly new to DT (240 images) but I have learned in a short period of time that keywords are as important as the image itself. So what I started doing a couple of weeks ago is to Google my subject and read what GOOD keywords I might be missing. For example, I am not a golfer but shot a couple of golf-related images. I needed to get usable keywords and found a golf site with golf terminology that helped me choose my keywords. I also don't wait. I try to keyword my Photoshop file right after I post process it. That discipline helps my productivity. There were times I'd do an upload and forgot to keyword and BAM...there are blank fields. Very frustrating. But I recommend taking the time to Google your subject to choose good keywords.

Hi keymentors, I really need an help from english speakers in titling and keywording an image of mine: http://www.dreamstime.com/cup-of-coffee-wafers-image3463313

I think the word "wafer" is not correct but I don't know the right one to describe the "recharges" for some kind of espresso coffee machines that you can see inside the cup. The literal translation from Italian to English is "wafer" so I put it but I dubt it can be correct. I also don't know if these things are diffused elsewhere in the world :)

If someone can tell me something about it I will be grateful to him.

Thanks to all!

Daniele

Just plugging my free tagging script here, for those who are interested. I use it all the time and with its 1-click, it speeds up my work flow a lot. It's a client script so you can download it and use it offline. I use it together with Irfanview, which also allows batch IPTC processing.

Spellcheck, ordering, automatic duplicate removal, templates, and much more. Free, and it only costs me bandwidth ;-)

FlemishTagger

I'm currently working on a more streamlined version with keyword suggestion, based on the Princeton free synonyms & more/less generic terms and a couple of Open Source thesauri.

For those in need for tags, use this scheme: what, where, why, how and don't forget to read Ellen's excellent blogposts on DT about tagging.

For non-English speakers: use an on- or offline dictionary. I use 4ling: Dutch, French, German, English and Euroglot 5.0 (offline). If you take the effort to Google for it, you can easily find online dictionaries and thesauri in your own language translating into English.

Proper tagging is the key to sales.

Thank you for pointing this out. It's a small glitch which is reported to the developers team and will be fixed after the weekend.

In the future, please, report such issues directly to support and also provide information as to what browser you're using and what is the sequence of your actions (of the given feature which doesn't work requires more than one).

I had a question about the KeyMentoring and key wording..... My day job is as an entomologist (insects and spiders), and frustrated at work one day I spent the afternoon adding scientific and group names as keywords after looking to purchase some images for a project we're working on and not being able to find what I was looking for due to overly generic and non-specific key words.

I now have a message when I click 'suggest' that says my key words were rejected so I cannot suggest more.... Anyone have a good idea why technical scientific names were refused/rejected?

I would think they'd be more helpful than "red bug" when it's not actually even a bug.... or at least in addition to.
