hi,

Go for it! It's a good piece of equipment. Although below the 5 series from canon, as product placement, this flash makes a great accessory to a 350d. Besides, compared to a 580, the price is very attractive, and there are plenty of features as well. Being a dedicated flash unit will help you use many auto exposure controls

Just to have you think about an alternative, i use the SIGMA EF 500 DG super and it work very well for the Canon EOS 350D / Rebel XT.

My suggestion is to go for 430EX it is much better than 420 and it is new model. I'm using it with my 350D and you can see my latest shots has been done with it (people and isolated objects).

Sigma is good but Canon is Canon and later when you want to upgrade your equipment you'll much easier sell canon than sigma.
