I don't think you will be always notified where your images were used. Sometimes your image may be downloaded for future use and later on the person who downloaded it will even forget where he downloaded it from. But let me tell you how I found out where one of my images were used. I went to Google recently and typed my full first and last name. Here is what I found Link
My name is under the photo. I found it only because they gave me the credit for the image. |

The filename contains the site name, so I always know where I got the file from.
The photogragrapher name isn't part of the filename, so I can't tell who to give credit to.

Shecodes, this is why we have the "Your downloads" area under the "Designers" category, in the upper toolbar. You can check which files you downloaded and this way have an easier access to the photographer's name. |

I wish all designers checked their files from time to time and post some threads about images they used. For me it counts more to see my image in use than those $0.50 for the download. Just recently one lady attached pdf file with her design and sent it to me only to let me know how my image was used. I know it takes time and effort but this is the best award for a photographer. |

Unfortunately it doesn't happen.
Between all the sites I have around 5000 downloads and only 3 times someone told me where they used the photo.
But its something you get use too.
Every once an awhile if I see someones photo I site mail them and send them the url. |

Being a newbie in this whole area, I was curious about my first downloaded
photos enough to start a search for some mechanism to track them.
Reading through the topics, I came across this thread. I think that Webking's
post really puts things into perspective. 3/5000 is a killer for any hopes of
keeping track of used photos, let alone seeing one in the actual design.
I guess, I'll have to come to terms with this. After all, the curiosity did kill the
cat, didn't it?

I agree. It would rock if you track your images but oh well. We'll have to rely on those who do think of it! * |
