Look at this photo:

http://www.izonemedia.biz/images/Dining_Table_sample.jpg

The table photo was rejected for "Lack of Composition"

I took this for a TV spot I am doing. We are laying photos down on the table as the camera zooms back.

I thought it would be a good useful shot.

I mean for a buck come on. I am not selling the furniture.

Look at the bottom shot. The veggie photo is another Dreamstime reject. (I have sold the veggie shot many times at the competitors).

Just in - sold the table shot twice already at the competitors.

If you want to discuss these photos here is OK.

But if you want to correlate this with the refusal you received, than please forward your enquiry towards support.

Achilles,

My intention is not to convince the inspectors to re-inspect a photo. That is like trying to get a bad call in a football game reversed. I put it here to see if other designers - photographers thought it was a useful shot. What I was correlating was the fact that many Dreamstime rejects appear in other RF sites and do well. And on the flip-side, Dreamstime has accepted other photos that get rejected at the other RF sites. I am glad to see the quality of photos accepted here is higher than a few other places.

All just food for thought.

I guess you have to find out that for yourself, Clustock :)

How would you imagine that - a direct link to a competing site, perhaps?

Ok, I'm not mean with you, just think about, when you post :)

Izoneguy, if you want my opinion regarding the shot itself I would prefer it with the entire chair included in the frame. If I want to crop them, I prefer to have more freedom, depending on the final design. The table should also be included. I am not saying that a design cannot fit the image exactly as it is. But why not give the designer the whole thing, so he can use it under many other circumstances?

Other than this, is a nice shot, but not stunning as concept work like goggles, the dog, the angry boy or the equisite work from Don't jump.

I know not all files can be that dramatic, but hey this is the critique forum :)

Thanks, yes the real world stuff is not as stunning sometimes.

You should see the TV spot I did with this.We have different photos of houses laying down on the table as we slowly pull back from the table. The client was pleased with the end result.

Sorry Izoneguy, but I would have to concur with Achilles on this one. The photo would have been a lot more useful had it been zoomed out more (and if you used it to back away from in a TV spot, I assume that you do have a larger image). Thus, the "lack of composition" is indeed appropriate - although the picture is nice.
