I filtered out some major rivals. I'm not really known in the stockphotograhy sites (I only use dreamstime), but there could popup one in the add maybe that i'm not aware of.

Most of the 'stockphoto' adds on the page are really lame sites though, that only have more google adds on them, so no worries about that.

It's hard to filter things out. Every add on my site will have an association with photagraphy. Every site that maybe sells a photo is a rival. If someone has a website where he/she sells some wedding photos, i won't filter that one.

First of all I don't think that that is a rival. And second,... then I must filter 90% and there is no reason to put addwords on.

You're real optimistic there for someone who didnt sign up because someone is maybe going to click on add on the site. :)

Don't think it's possible to do that. Maybe the only way is that if the buyer will drop you a note that it came through promotographer.com.

Though I had some 'thank you' mails from people who signed up, that they had some increases with their sales on dreamstime since they signed up.

It would be interesting to see how this develops, obviously in terms of increased sales but also as the links to DT carry your referral id, you should be able to get some idea of the effectiveness of the link.

Well, they website is just a week online. Hard to say how it develops already.

I am hoping that people (that have a website) will put a banner with a direct link to their portfolio on their website. This will result in a higher rank in the searchengines, which means more visitors and more sales for the photographers.

Well, I think I typed enough for now :)

Thanks for everyone who's still joining and I hope you make more sales through the site!

Wrong. I just find it ironic that your site encouraging DT members to sign up and link to carries adverts for these two direct competitors! I note that the current adverts are not these two companies, but I imagine there is some sort of rota going on which includes other RF stock sites, such as the two I saw earlier.

looks good for the top guns, but a poor rating could kill what little sales someone has. Sales are tough enough to generate, and when stars start showing up, they will tend to push all activity to the four or five star porfolios.

Like when I select my real stock on the stock market, I WON'T TOUCH A STOCK with fewer than FOUR STARS.

So i'll just wish all you guys and gals well - same people getting the majority of current sales will get 90% of the benefit of this site.

We little folks need any chance at promotion we can get, and I don't think it will hurt that much because the same top stars are already here getting sales.

A little harsh! Can't you make your own mind up about a pic without relying on an arbitrary scoring system? Surely you should trust your own judgement regardless of others opinions.

I certainly can make up my my own mind. I investigate the four and five star ratings, because they are not arbitrary. They are assigned by analytical investors like my self who have 30 years financial analysis behind them. Consistently I find after reviewing the technical and fundamental characteristics of a stock that the four and five star stocks are accurate - 90% of the time. SO THE STARS GIVE ME A STARTING POINT.

My comment was not intended to be harsh - it is actually common sense. Actually, I assume that intelectuals and quality photogs or designers will be assigning the ratings. So they should be a good starting point for someone making a quick search.

Also bear in mind that 20% of any universe usually enjoys 80% of the rewards, and the remaining 80% get to divy up the balance. I believe it is better for me to keep uploading and constantly analyze my results. As for a link, Ialready have a couple floating around on my personal sites.

I must say that the idea and effort was quite noble!

Again - best wishes to all!

Your rating increase when other people rate you good... The only thing you can do is to put the best images at your "top 8"... ;)

I've just signed up, but have one question: When I view my portfolio, I see there is a direct link to my DT profile. This is linked to the regular URL instead of the URL with my referral ID. Is there a way to change this?

Not really.

Everything is created so all the links are generated automaticly.

The link to the portfolio is just the link to dreamstime + username + '_info'.

But it's impossible to retrieve a user ID for every user.

@ Tony, i've send you an email. Your username on promotographer is your email adress (not your DT username).

If you still have any trouble, let me know.

@ Sophie, you like statistics ? :)

Don't know if a feature like that will be available.
