Something that might help contributors

I just sold two photos of churches at virtually the same time. It occured to me that this was probably from someone searching for pictures of churches and who would probably be buying other church photos at the same time.

Since we seldom get comments from buyers, perhaps DT could implement a bit of auto feedback. As examples, two things come to mind that could be derived from the buyers session.

1 - "This image was bought from a search for ..." where the system would tell us which search terms were used to find the picture. This would help us understand what the buyer was looking for and which of the several keywords used with the image were successful. In the case of my pictures, it could be church, architecture, arch or several other keywords that might be common to both pictures.

2 - "The buyer of this photo also purchased ...." where the system would let us know what other pictures were bought at about the same time (say over a 6 hour period) in the form of thumbnails. Again, this would help us see what that particular buyer was looking for. There would be no need to identify the buyer, just what pictures were bought. This would be similar to many shopping sites where the system indicates "People who bought this item also bought ...".

I can see the reason behind your suggestion to some extent, but isn't it a bit like closing the stable door after the horse has bolted?

I'd rather like to see something along the lines of "the purchaser was looking for images of xxxxxxxx but couldn't find any....!"

Difficult to put into practice, but would be useful for contributors!

(I know there is the photos request message board, but I don't think it really works in the same way - something like that suggested above may be a more efficient way of highlighting gaps in the database and suggest opportunities to contributors)

Ian.

We cannot publish the words he searched after from reasons I explained in a recent thread on the same subject.

But the other suggestion is interesting, we will keep it in mind.
