Hi all.
Would someone please take a look at my portfolio?
I recently achieved my having my first photo approved that utilized isolation techniques.
I currently have 13 approved images and have another 18 pending ...
Anything you could tell me regarding my images, my technique, or other tips for increasing my sales would be very helpful.
Thanks,
Mark

Generally I recommend new photographers look at the portfolios of the "Winners"
here on DT. By winners, I mean the most successful. There is something else you can
do GO HERE then scroll down to look at the MOST POPULAR images being sold in real time.
You can get more feed back on your portfolio by comparing it to the most popular images.
I looked at your portfolio, and I must say it is quite small. In fact too small for me
to get a general feel of whether your on the right track. Please keep in mind that
you are submitting images that will be used commercially. So ask yourself with every
image you take: "Will someone be able to use this image in an ad?"
1. Generally speaking "Fine Art" photography does not sell well in the stock industry.
2. Isolated images sell well.
3. Remember the seasons and holidays usually dictate what designers are often after.
(Don't expect Christmas images to sell in Spring)
4. Good "Key wording" is essential for a successful portfolio.
5. Consider "action" shots...people doing activities...cars moving, etc.
Note. I have quite a few landscape images in my portfolio. THEY DO NOT SELL WELL.
I wish you luck,

Rjmiz,
Thank you so much for the advice. As far as the size of my portfolio goes ... it is growing. I try to push for the maximum submission each day when I can.
I have been working on my isolations and have started to get approval for them on multiple sites.
I have also been working with model's and have been getting releases signed.
I do review photos constantly and I am in the bulletin boards everyday to learn more of what works and what doesn't ...
I do understand the concept of what stock photography is used for ...
I do understand the benefit of doing "pre-emptive" strikes on getting holiday material out in advance of the seasons.
My keywording I anticipate will be among the best as I've had experience doing keywording for Google AdWords campaigns in the past and fully understand their importance.
I plan to upgrade my equipment in the future which will help me with my "action" shots.
My portfolio here on DT may be small (only 13 images, but I have 28 pending) I have another 26 on BSP and now 7 on FT with another 12 pending so I am getting my material out there ...
I do realize its a sure numbers game. I plan to dedicate myself to this fully for at least 2yrs of exploration (I'm just over two months into it now ...)
I appreciate your comments.
Mark
