I have looked at many sites to host my website, and I am not sure which one to choose. If any of you have any suggestions, please let me know. I need an inexpensive one, but not a freebie with ads posted all over it. |

I'm using StartLogic; good pricing with plenty of bandwidth and storage. Have a great deal if you are transferring registration from another company. Their back end servers are a bit sluggish and not terribly stable but customer side seem fairly good.
A friend of mine, who knows quite a bit about the subject, swears by hostmonster.com. They have very similar specs and pricing StartLogic and I've don't remember ever hearing a complaint about them(he does have two or three sites there under his management and has had them there for a couple of years now.)
Hope that gives you a couple places to start ... |

The main thing is not to mix hosting and domain registration. It sounds like a deal (free domain included) but afterwards you're stuck with the hoster since he most probably will not release the domain to you in case you find a better hoster.
I use namecheap.com for domain registration, but godaddy.com seems a little bit cheaper. The only thing you have to do at namecheap.com is point to the nameservers of your hoster, and you can change those on the fly when changing hosting.
For hosting I use the baby-croc plan of hostgator.com. Very pleased about it: fast access all over the world where I could check it (Gulf-states, China, SE-Asia). Uptime almost 100%.
The nice thing about hostgator is that they offer many and fast MySql databases, and that's a key issue that's often a problem with other hosters. Moreover, you can attach an unlimited number of domains to one account. At the moment I run 6 domains, and still bandwidth and storage to spare.
My environments are Joomla, WordPress, Coppermine. |

oh... I do the same... I'm buying name at goDaddy and I'm hosting in hostgator.
Just I'm host by hostgator since 1 or 2 months and I have been lazy a bit (and busy, also)so I just have transfer the domain name, and I haven't really work on it :)
Anyway space and bandwith are hudge and from the basic account you can have several domain name (which is great) because you can host in the same accont your .com and .net .
And that the reason I've been living another one hoster... damned that the same website, and I intend to put the same content... and even, space bandwith are just incomparable... maybe servage get a similar offer.
The only thing is that I seem to have understand that it is with a linux environement, and it seems that it doesn't offer a window environnement.
I think it has a sense when you want to settle some script...and I was wondering what the exact meaning of that... like is it possible to make the test in local (I'm not linux, I wish, but I'm not)... So in case that might be a problem when you would like to make important change, and test it. Again, that is just a wondering. And I have more or less think about a solution in that case . (that just me searching solutions about problem I'm not sure to have :-))
Anyway, I have start to use sitestudio... I haven't finished and I'm not sure to use it at the end.
About the Gallery I was wondering about Coppermine or Gallery4 ... I've pushed away Gallery Menalto that offer good possibility but I have already spended to much nerves on it...
May I know Fleying what do you have preferred with Coppermine? |

I tried host****r and terminated after 15 days of uses. The support is bad..
My friend recommended me to use site5, and I uses it since then. Things go smooth and the support are helpful..
