I am new to stock photography and am trying to put my all into getting a good start going with it. I have been having a lot of photos rejected for "poor opitical performace". What are some possible reasons for this? MOST of the photos rejected for "poor optical performance" were taken from my old point and shoot Kodak. Could sharpening in photoshop have something to do with this? I usually need to sharpen my photos before uploading.... they just tend to lack crispness before any editing. I also use Neat Image with some of my photos as well.

Another question.

I was expecting a little more luck with sales. I have 50 images on and have only had 2 sales in the past 2 or so months. The photos I have online now were taken before I had stock photography in mind, so they are not 100% geared for stock. So I know that plays a role. Never the less, they were excepted and have not been getting downloads. I would love some feed back on my portfolio.

Thanks.

you joined April 8, 2008, that means you are only one month old in DT. Be patient, you will get good sales on your photographs. Don't be worried about sales now. Keep uploading. Surely that will make more sales on your phtotographs.

I stand corrected..... 1 month, not 2. I've never been a very patient person : ) .... I know I need to be in this case.

Thanks.

You have some nice photos in your portfolio. As Thayyilani suggested, patience and constant uploading are the key to more downloads.

If you have trouble with your acceptance ratio due to camera performance, maybe you should think about upgrading your equipment.

When I bought a DSLR, technical quality of my photos has improved very much.

Best regards,

Your pictures are good - you have vivid colors and good lighting. However, besides the size of your portfolio (think of several hundred images on-line as an assurance for daily downloads) consider its content in the context of what is already on-line on Dreamstime.

True, many categories already have a lot of images in them and for new contributors it takes extra time and creativity to be competitive there. Yet, there is also a lot of categories with much fewer images. Read Dreamstime's Photography Blog for more information concerning such categories, browse the database and try to discover some new ones yourself...

In fewer words - continue to strive for quality, a lot of variety, even more creativity, patience :), and of course - quantity (but not at the expense of any of the others).
