Whether it is taking a simple photo of an object on a white background, or capturing a subjective idea with an emotional subject, I am always passionate about my work. Art is creatively constructed from my heart with a drive since childhood to express my ideas into something everyone can interpret and draw their own conclusions from.
There are many benefits to being both a Photographer and an Illustrator. If I cannot achieve something in a photo, I will instead illustrate it in a vector file and because of this, my portfolio has more variety. I spend my time on both formats equally the same. My photographs consist of abstract ideas about technology or success while my vector illustrations are more straightforward such as a web template, a house logo or an object like a shopping bag. Some of my most successful photographs are something so simple, like a hand turning a piece of paper. Over the years, I have perfected my technique and explored new environments and objects to photograph or illustrate. I get very excited when I visualize an idea and then create it into something people can see.
My favorite Photographer is hands down Jerry Uelsmann. I am always inspired by the way he can put two images together to represent a whole new meaning such as a house with tree roots. I try to combine two separate images into one as well and one sample of this is my piece of a man walking into the clouds on an infinite staircase.
As a self-employed Graphic/Web Designer working for several businesses ranging from cosmetic products to ambulance services, I get the added benefit of knowing what clients want. I get to hear first hand what customers generally like and dislike. Simplicity is usually the best approach, however, abstract pieces can also serve a great value as well. Personally, I enjoy creating complex colorful pieces in Adobe Photoshop because it is similar to creating art on a canvas.
I have enjoyed design ever since I was a young child making my own magazines and piecing together patterns, colors, textures and faces to tell a story. My love and eagerness to learn new techniques has led me to where I am today. Whether the assignment is selling a product or an idea, I have marketable material in many realms. I am grateful that I can make a living doing what I love to do and am honored that my photographs and illustrations can be used to serve a message.
