Thousands of people gather to watch the laser show and listen to the speeches during the
Inaguration of the New Chords Bridge at Jerusalem, June 25, 2008. The grandiose bridge (387-feet tilted mast, 66 strings, both can be clearly seen in the picture) is one of the most controversial construction projects in the holy city. Many feel that the bridge is out of proportion and does not fit the character of the city. Others, however, applaud it.
The bridge will not come into service at least until 2010, when the Jerusalem Light Rail line will be opened.
