I was born in Texas. As a child my family and I moved around quite a bit. I have lived in Texas, Michigan, Massachusetts, Oklahoma, Philadelphia, PA (favorite!) and now southwest Florida. I graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Master of Science degree in Nutrition and worked for several years in the medical field, but I left that life to become a mother and currently have three wonderful children who are the main focus both in my life and through my lens. In 2002, my grandfather passed away and I was left his old 35mm camera. That was the start of my life behind the lens. I took classes at the local visual arts center and enjoyed the B&W film format very much. Eventually, I ventured into the realm of digital photography and this hobby took on new life to become a passion. Portraits and weddings, family and pets became my primary focus. Family is so important to me in life that it naturally became important to my art. I freelance with the local newspaper and relish the chance to branch out and take on new subjects with every assignment. Now as an editor for Dreamstime I get to face one more challenge, every day I get to take what others have seen through their eye’s lens and view it myself, to help them share their images with the world. Photography is about capturing life’s moments for others to share. I cherish the opportunity to share my family’s and my experiences through the art of photography with the world as well as sharing your submitted images too.
