Peter O'Toole takes a bow following his performance as Garry Essendine in Noel Coward's Present Laughter, in Chicago in 1978. The Irish-born and British-reared and educated star of stage and screen died on December 14, 2013 at the age of 81. Though nominated for the Oscars 8 times, he failed to win even once; though he was awarded a special Academy Award for Lifetime Achievement in 2003. Among O'Toole's most celebrated performances were those he gave in the following films: Lawrence of Arabia, Becket, Lion in Winter, Goodbye, Mr. Chips, The Ruling Class, and My Favorite Year.
