San Xavier del Bac Mission is viewed by many to be the finest example of mission architecture in the United States. This Tucson, Arizona, USA, structure is a mix of Moorish, Byzantine and Mexican Renaissance architecture. It sits in the midst of the Arizona desert.
It was built from 1783 - 1797 by the Franciscan Fathers Juan Bautista Velderrain and Juan Bautista Llorenz.
The mission is still in use today.
