Bastet, the daughter of Ra, in Egypt, was initially identified as the goddess of the solar cult, but when Greek culture began to be felt in Egypt, she became the goddess of the moon, by analogy with the Greek goddess Artemis. She opened the way, in ancient Egypt, to the worship of cats.
