Throngs of visitors at Pike Place Public Market, overlooking Puget Sound in downtown Seattle, Washington. Pike Place is one of the oldest public markets in the United States, having been in operation since 1907. Fish, produce and crafts of all sorts can be found at the market. With over 10 million visitors annually, it is hugely popular with both local residents and tourists from all over the world, and has been featured in numerous documentaries and television specials. Seattle is the business and tourism hub of the Northwestern corner of the United States and is home to the corporate headquarters of Microsoft, Boeing and Starbucks among others.
