20. august 2008, about 100 000 Estonians came together at the Tallinn Song Festival Grounds and participated in the Märkamisaeg (Time to Notice) Nocturnal Song Festival to celebrate the Awakening, which grew into the Singing Revolution and the subsequent restoration of Estonia's independence in August 1991. More than 140 choirs, over 3000 singers and tens of thousands of spectators were singing together. The festival was the main event of the 90th anniversary celebrations of the Republic of Estonia.
