A view of the colorful Seward Small Boat Harbor, as passengers debark after a trip on the Kenai Fjords Tours boat Tanaina into Kenai Fjords National Park, with the cruise ship Radiance of the Seas in the background. Kenai Fjords Tours, along with Major Marine Tours, are the two primary boat tour operators that take visitors thousands of people into Kenai Fjords National Park each year. Seward is a common summer cruise ship port of call, located on the Kenai Peninsula at the end of Resurrection Bay. Seward, named after former United States Secretary of State William H. Seward, who arranged the purchase of Alaska from Russia in 1867, is famous for commercial and recreational fishing, particularly halibut and salmon, outdoor recreation opportunities, including wildlife and marine mammal viewing opportunities.
