Bristle Thistle - Carduus nutans - Wildflower

This is a Bristle Thistle - Carduus nutans - wildflower that grows in most fields, and along roadsides in Alabama, and elsewhere. The blooms are puple to lavender, and it has lavender pollen, and sharp spines. Although the are considered a weed, or pest, they are very beautiful and are useful to insects, butterflies and birds, both for food, and nest building.
