The throne room was discovered in 1900 by archaeologist Arthur Evans in Knossos, Crete, in Greece. The Throne Room was built in the 15th century BC for ceremonial purposes and it is considered the oldest throne room in Europe. The palace of Knossos is one of the main centers of the Minoan civilization.
