The Greek Orthodox monastery of St. Catherine at the foot of Mount Sinai (2285 m) on the Sinai Peninsula, Egypt. People believe that Mount Sinai is the Biblical mountain were Moses received the Ten Commandments. The Monastery was found by the Byzantine Emperor Justinian in 542 AD on the place where the Biblical Burning Bush was growing. Now the St. Catherine’s Monastery is the oldest Christian monastery in the world. The remains of St. Catherine have been kept in the monastery until the 9th or 10th century, when the remains were found on the top of Mount Catherine (2642 m) not far from here.
