In Reine, Lofoten, Norway, fishing is a primary industry. Fish can be seen drying on frames (fish heads on separate frames to the rest of the fish), strung up and hung over wooden structures (sometimes A-frame, sometimes flat). A vast quantity of the dried fish is then exported to Mediterranean countries. Smell and flies only really become noticeable when getting very close to the fish, as in standing right next to, inside or underneath the frames themselves. By Bettina Schwarz.
