In the historic fishing community of Matlacha, brightly colored buildings house funky artist galleries, shops and gardens.
Matlacha is famous for its fishing It is sheltered from the gulf by the Sanibel-Captiva Islands and sits in the back bay waters. Population is sparse due to its out-of-the-way setting.
Artists on display include Leoma Lovegrove. Her art is instantly recognizable for its exuberant technique and tropical color palette. When she is not working out of her studio here in Southwest Florida, Lovegrove loves to recharge her artistic batteries by painting in Europe with her husband, author Michael J Silberg.
