Argiroupolis village, Crete

A wide angle view of the ancient mountain village of Argiroupolis, Crete, supposedly founded by Agamemnon and known in Roman times as Lappa, with the towering heights of Omanite and Fourni behind. The village water supply still comes from cisterns built on the orders of the Emperor Augustus more than 2000 years ago.
