This photo shows a scene during the relegation match between Fortuna Düsseldorf and Hertha BSC Berlin. Düsseldorf beat Berlin 2:1 in Berlin and drew 2 all in Düsseldorf. The match was overshadowed by hooligans from both sides setting off fireworks. A misunderstanding by spectators who misinterprated the referees whistle ended up with the pitch being stormed and the match being stopped for 20 minutes whilst the pitch was cleared by Police and Security staff. After 20 minutes the match resumed. The final whistle blew with the score standing at 2:2 , This score was enough to get Düsseldorf promoted into the German 1st division. Berlin was relegated to the second division . For hours afterwards the Police had to take care of Berlin hooligans . Here Berlin player Janke is booked and yellow carded for a dangerous foul on a Düsseldorf player.
