The XL1 is the third version of Volkswagen's one liter car, and the first one that will be put into production. It is a diesel plug-in hybrid vehicle, with a two-cylinder 800 cm3 turbo-diesel engine powering the rear wheels and producing 47 bhp, which is supplemented by an electric engine providing an additional 27 bhp. According to the German manufacturer, the XL1 can achieve a fuel consumption of 0.9 litres per 100 kilometres, emitting only 24g of CO2 per km. Taken at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show.
