There are many contributors who knowingly or unknowingly have submitted duplicates of their images. Duplicate=100% identical content.
There are thousands of files cluttering our searches, affecting the customers experience and decreasing the sales potential for that content (dilluting sales required for higher levels). Sometimes we found 4-5 versions of the same file.
Starting tomorrow we'll begin to remove the duplicates, triplicates, quadruplicates etc. Only one version will stay, the oldest one. Or the one with most downloads, if there is one.
The bad news: they are not just removed but will count towards the approval ratio as refused files. If the file was keymastered, no refund is given. If the file received the upload bonus for full exclusives, the bonus will be removed from your earnings.
The good news: we will transfer the sales towards the file that is kept online. Comments, collection and lightbox placement will be transferred too.
If you don't want your AR to be affected, you can search for the files and disable the duplicates yourself. You will lose the sales transfer though and the file that is kept will sell at a lower price.
This is just a first step to clean the database. We can say that we're a mature agency now so we should act accordingly. |

I don't know why people upload same images - maybe they've forgotten about their approved files ?!?
I've contacted support a few times before when I accidentally see same images. One hour ago I found duplicates again while searching something I need. I'll send you the new ones now.
I think it's good for all of us. |

i have to agree, its giving a particular image an unfair advantage over all the other images in that category if it is uploaded 3 or 4 times! |

There is a valid reason to do it sometimes, in case of bad edits that passed the reviewer years ago. You always have to wait the approval of the re-edited file to inactivate the inferior one.
The choice is sometimes hard, when it concerns a higher level old file you are not technically happy with. It would be great to have the "replace image by a better version" option. |

Negative. When a buyer is confronted with 4 identical images in a row, he will wonder why the contributor did it, and suspecting one of the images is better than the other (unable to see the difference on the thumb) just avoid buying it altogether. The buyer might even conclude the contributor is sloppy, and avoid his entire portfolio. |

I am very glad to hear that this action is being taken. I see the results as positive for everyone (though people who have their AR impacted or lost bonus earnings as a result may not see it that way at first). I think it is an especially nice gesture that any sales are being transfered to the file that is left online, which could give its level an immediate boost. |
