Question about sets vs. single

When I make things like web buttons I usually work in sets but I see a lot of files with just one in it. Are there advantages/disadvantages to doing this? Does one sell more than the other?

Thanks in advance,

Anita

I really don't know if one can sell more or not, but generally I work in sets too. I prefer to sell an image 5 times than 5 images with 1 download (level structure...). Furthermore, if you draw only a button I think it can't sell for big sizes (large, extralarge, etc.). Bye, Rob.

Thanks for the reply. Never thought of it that way so I think I'll stick to my sets.

Thanks.

When you want to submit buttons, digits, flags or letters, please make a set and submit as one image :)

Yay! And now it's offical ;) After I thought about it again I'd feel I would be wasting file space and server space. Sets to me would give buyers more options.

Thanks :)

I have in the past downloaded illustrations for particular jobs, I always choose the sets over the singles.

I feel you get more value for money.

Definetely when talking about icons sets sell better...most people will need a bunch of similar icons and if you find all of them in just one download, why to spend 10 x more?

Make sets, no one is looking for just 1 icon.

Sets give the customer a better image on how the icons look together.

And if you are selling web buttons, be sure to put a blank one in the set as well.

That way the customer can use that one to create some custom web buttons from it.

Sets are definitely better than single icon files (personally I hate them).

In fact sets are more interesting and more complete, I usually create sets because are absolutely requested and appreciated, people love them and find them very useful (for there is the same topic and the same link among the icons of the same set).

That makes a lot of sense. Hard to imagine needing a 6MP version of a button :) I would also want to buy the version that was original size to avoid any sizing artifacts - does that tend to be the case?

Shawnrhea:

You have two possibilities: download the jpeg file - and you have to select and cut the icon (button) in PS or download the vector file and you have to open it in AI (or Corel), ungroup the object and select the one you want.
