Hi all,

I have had a few sales now, some editorial some RF, none of them have had a comment to mention where the image is being used. Is there a way we can find out. especially the editorials.

There really is no way of knowing how the buyer plans to use the image. Every once in a while a buyer might leave a comment, but it's a very rare occurrence.

I've only ever had one comment - for which I was very grateful.

Whenever I buy an image, I make sure to leave a comment and a link.

Some are of the mindset that they don't really care but it would certainly be beneficial to know where images are being used. I think that there should be some sort of tracking mechanism for this by DT. Some sites have this option, although it is not mandatory for the buyer to divulge the info. But simply out of common courtesy I think that they should. We are obviously helping them sell their magazines, calendars, etc. and that's the least they can do for us as their photographers.

To take this a step further, I also think that the "name of the photographer / DT" should also appear underneath the images used with no exceptions. Right now it's very much a thankless business. There are many who only care about revenue and although I disagree, that's fine as I am not one of those people.

It is always nice to hear where your image has been used.
If a buyer has been able to let me know they have used my images on a website, I will give their website a mention wherever I can.

Not only does this help my image and her website be seen, it helps us both - and she (or he) might also buy another image from me. :)

Yeah, I've never had a comment letting me know where my photos have been used. So never seen my microstock photos in action, as it were. I'm not that bothered though, I'm glad the images were of some use. They might not comment, purely so that we and there are a fair few of us, don't keep trying to contact them.

Haha thanks Karin. Yes it's the first. It's one of the few images I've offered for free though. Still, it's very nice of them to put a photo credit as well mentioning Dreamstime.
