Very useful blog! But it's very hard to reject our own work! I'm trying to be selective, but sometimes I leave it to you :) And yes, if I delete the photos on my camera, I'll have less files for uploading! I should try it! |

Let's see an example
- You refuse image 1,2,3 from person A (person got e.g 5 shots with specified subject)
- same time person B uploads 5 shots on the same subject - You refuse 2,3
It's ok Dreamstime has later more higher level images but these 2 people have about 50% less pictures to compete in the search engine and small diversity.
If there is a problem with that STRANGE COUNT/CREDIT/LEVEL/EARN issue for me it's a engine/presentation problem and not submitters.
And what's the problem that i have single [5 level] and [5 low level] ?? If these will sell, let them go up to the level 2 through monts, why not?
Also You put all the [similarity rejections] into one basket - but many people have/report completely different similarity issues.
One has 5 photos of the sandwich, other 5 of THE MODEL, other 10 event editorials.
These are completely different and can't be just put together, WHAT YOU (DT) ALWAYS EMPHASIZE: all rejections reasons are different and "each submission is unique and is treated likewise by our staff".
If these would be unique You wouldn't write single recipe for all of us i think ? ;)
You have to decide.
As i said before - please improve the search engine cause images will still get uploaded.
Or maybe You want later allow just 5 images a month for everyone.
Flash browser is great, Your engine tweaks and updates are always promising, but that SIMILARITY problem is just strange.
Greetings - these are my feedback comments and don't take it as complaining. |

Editors are trained and know what sells and what not. It's not that they know the answer to every question, but they know when to accept more images from a series and less from another. Also, the review takes into account our pricing system and we don't plan to change that although your feedback is appreciated. Please don't transform this into a discussion about refusals. |

It is very difficult to be selective with your own work, but it is very useful! Also I read that similar images pull out the clients!
So,
Get creative, be selective! |

I am generally very selective with my images, but often do not have time to process them, so for me I like to upload them as I complete each one. Does this mean I should just leave them all in my unfinished section until I have processed them all so they are in one batch? Sometimes I don't get back to the rest for months! |

Thank you for the article! I always try to preselect on the camera display and delete all images which have a less good composition. It helps to have a small mirror, to view it as if seeing it for the first time. That also is good for adjusting the composition before I take the picture. The stock game really helps! My new uploads are doing just fine :) |

Wow! Great information but I never upload all my photos from one shoot into a batch. Instead I process 1 maybe 2 and upload those, then I upload different shoots/subjects inbetween. If I find something else I think is good later I process that image and upload it. Is this now going to cause me to get rejections?
Also, could you explain a little more about using the same model. Is it acceptable to use the same model for completely different shoots? Many of us are extreme amatuer photographers who don't have a huge budget to hire models. Instead we usually utilize friends and family.
Thanks in advance for any more insight you may be able to provide on this subject.
PS I really do enjoy the Stock Rank game. I have learned so much about what type of images DT is looking for and what sells. One frustration for me though is my computer has locked up on several occasions causing my score to drop significantly. This always makes me sad! |

@Sgcallaway1994 - The comment on same model referred only to images from the same shooting session.
In regards to your submission process, keep them under the unfinished files section and submit all at once. Or, as you do, keep the first (best) 1-2 ones and forget about the rest (if they are similar). |

well.. ok.. just sent email to support before i saw this blog because i feel that the review system changed and even images that are not that similar got rejected. If the review system is based on generalization, then i guess many images will get rejected because most of the time, when a photoshoot is done, it will be based on a theme and definitely it will be similar in one way or another and it's subject to the reviewers perception of generalization or specifics. Sigh. |

@Achilles : "Contributors submit technically perfect (and usually sellable) images and get frustrated when they are refused."
I think other microstock sites aren't frustrated when people upload these there.
:) So i stick with my point of view.

Nobody asked you to change your point of view. Not even the submissions. Some contributors let the reviwer decide which one is best. But don't get frustrated if you see more refusals. Less similars will increase your approval ratio, that's the whole point of this article |

It would be cool if a compromise of having an image stack could be used. Instead of submitting multiple distinct images you submit a series with the 'best' image as the top of the stack (maybe submitting a single image first, then adding to the stack after approval). DT could treat the whole stack as the single top image for searches, pricing, etc. but still give the buyer the flexibility of purchasing any image within the stack (for the overall stack's level). If you are exclusive DT could pay you for one image (not for each image in the stack). This would maximize revenue for a series, and make it easy for buyer to see other shots from a shoot. Note that I'm not suggesting you stack a whole shoot, just those selects similar enough that they really represent alternate poses or angles. Kind of like how the model images work - you see a single image that you can click on to bring up all images for that model. The difference would be that the images behind the stack would not appear in search results... |
