New feature: Order a Print

Very soon you'll be able to order posters and canvases from our site. This is self-explanatory so I will skip the basics. You all have such prints somewhere decorating your home or office walls.

All RF images are eligible for this option (Editorial and Free Photos are excluded). Plus, ordering is fast and easy to use. Similar to image download, prints can be purchased in a matter of seconds.

Thanks to our pricing model and a very simple formula, prices are kept minimal: production costs + RF pricing (maximum size, credits only, levels apply). Contributor royalties & agency share calculation is based on the same formula used for regular downloads. This allows us to provide the lowest prices for this type of products. In return, we expect to generate a significant vertical instantly.

As the service is directed towards the consumer, what we did was to enable them to print the images directly from our site, instead of having to go to a different provider. A single copy will be ordered and our terms will prohibit the reselling of these items (this avoids conflicts with our EL licensing).

There is no opt-out from this program as the usage fits our regular terms. Should such need arise for any of you, it can be added via our Alliances and Partnerships section.

This new option aims to attract new customers to our site (we have a fabulous collection that can compete with any top site selling prints) and at the same time, to help customers already using our images for this purpose.

While we're currently beta testing the feature soon to go live, your feedback is welcome.

We print!

To expand on the possibility, does this mean DT might have a "fine art" section? I have many gallery-quality images but I haven't bothered to upload them because their potential as stock is low. The images I do have uploaded that could be considered "artsy" don't sell well, if at all.

Cool! Will the contributors be able to clearly tell when their images are ordered for prints as opposed to regular credit sales for maximum size?

What a great feature! I'll probably order a few prints for myself also. :) How will the prizes be when you buy a poster of one of your own pictures?

If you purchase your own images as prints, you pay the regular price for the print. However, you end up paying less because the royalties of the sale will be obviously added to your earnings so part of the money spent will go back to your account . Hope this is clear enough :) I got lost in explanation :).

I was thinking about ordering some canvases of some of my pictures of my family so maybe this would be a cheaper way for me to do it as I would get some of the money returned to me. :)

I also think this is an excellent move!

Any comments on the questions above re a "fine art" type section? Or maybe a widening of the types of image accepted in order to build a library of images worthy of canvas wall prints?

Ian.

Very clear, thank you! So I get a 60% deduction on the image price, but pay the full printing costs. That doesn't sound too bad. I hope you have this up and running in good time before Christmas. :)

We expect to provide the lowest prices anywhere, especially for canvases.
In regards to the review policy, current criteria will remain the same, we already accept art photos. But of course, for the acceptance/refusal border, we will take into account what type of photo is in demand for prints. Contributors who had P-EL sales know that they look different than other ELs or RF.

Well, OK, but every time I submit an image that won recognition and/or prize money in a photography contest, the Reviewers reject them for things like "poor composition!"

ARGH!
