Although we live in different hemispheres, there is an ancient essential ritual repeated year after year. It is practiced all over the world and it has evolved from small-scale production of primary crops to nowadays intensive farming. Agriculture, seen both as traditional and modern, micro and large-scale, is the focus of our current assignment.

Illustrate actions from plant cultivation to harvesting, from plowing the land to building irrigation systems, from breeding livestock to crop fertilization. While many people still practice home farming as simple means of sustenance, the vast majority of world population relies on industrial agriculture to supply food. Focus on organic but also on industrial food production processes. Show rural farmers working the land with horse drawn plows but also large machines harvesting produce. Include specialties from ecoagriculture to plant genetics and specialists from agronomists to food researchers. Your setting can be rural or urban, personal gardens or industrial greenhouses, the field or the apartment balcony, the market or the laboratory.

Best agriculture instances and most fertile imaginations will be rewarded with $300 for the first place, $200 for the second place and $100 for the third place. The winners will also receive our official Dreamstime T-shirts for their strenuous agricultural labor.

Good luck!

You need to have at least 50 online images in order to participate in our contests. Upload must be made from the assignment submission page link here . There are no other special rules except for perhaps making sure your submissions match the topic of the content :).

Well, finally I may have the opportunity! I've submitted a number of images detailing agri-business and they keep getting rejected because the reviewer(s) don't know what they're looking at. A giant silage bag? What's that? REJECT! All the farms have giant plastic bags now, the silo is becoming obsolete!

Oh damn this is just not right. You would need to live somewhere near a farm area or something. Darn it!

oh wait.....I live in the middle of the most fertile land in the world and its harvest season!!!

(of course this means I am doomed)

Great assignment. I have some ok selling pictures of subsistence agriculture in the remote inlands of the Philippines (Bukidnon, Mindanao). Three weeks ago, I planned an expedition there again with lightboxes and a model. Perhaps I did it, or not, but I certainly won't upload those shots to microstock for 0.20 euro subscription. Sorry. Good luck to all the others.

Resubmit it via the assignment and, if it's accepted, disable the original copy. Sorry, but I think that's the only way.

I'm going through my archives... I have a great picture of the farmer's wife butchering a chicken by hand. It's a great, unique one-of-a-kind image.

DT, it will sell, that is for sure, but are you willing to approve something a tad graphic no matter how honest and real it depicts where our food comes from? :-)

I uploaded an image following the assignment link, chose the level 5 option. Chose the file using the browse option on the link and entered the 4 digit security code. Screen just stayed the same for ages, eventually I opened Dreamstime in a new window. The file I uploaded was in my unfinished files, I completed all fields as normal and submited. Today file has been accepted but just appears to be for sale as a reg RF image. I even wrote it was for assignment in the editorial section. Does this just mean it's been rejected for assignment but is ok for RF stock? Or have I just gone mad? :-)

Thanks in advance for any help. This is the image:

@Brett: If the assignment upload appears pending as regular submission, we recommend you either contact support or delete the image and upload it again using the assignment submission page. Most likely image ID 14000241 ended up in regular submission pending line and was reviewed accordingly.

Our recommendation is to leave image 14000241 as it is and re-upload the file for assignment. After you finish upload procedure, double check pending folder and make sure it is pending for assignment and not for regular RF section. If the same problem persists, contact support as soon as possible.

When and if the the new upload is approved for the assignment, you can disable the file ID 14000241 accepted as regular submission.
